What is hypnosis and hypnotherapy?

Some people say that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis as you can only go into a hypnotic chance if you want to which means you are always in control and aware of what is happening. Did you know that everyone goes in and out of natural hypnotic trance states every day? Just think about when you have been doing something and your mind has wondered somewhere else or been so focused you don’t notice other things around you. Perhaps it’s when you are driving, or absorbed in a film or daydreaming in a meeting. Have you ever been so busy with something that an hour has felt like minutes?  These are just a few examples of every day trance.

Hypnotherapy uses this natural state to communicate with your unconscious to make permanent and positive changes. Anyone who wants to be hypnotised can be although the depth of hypnosis depends on the client and in most cases only a light trance state needs to be used. It’s important you know that you will be the one making all the changes as I am only your guide to help you achieve the changes you want.

How many sessions will I need?

Every client is different and I work on individual needs rather than problem labels so the time needed to resolve an issue will vary from client to client. For some issues like stopping smoking, just one or two sessions is all it takes to quit the habit. Many other issues only need between 4 and 8 sessions. Our first session together is at least 90 minutes and will help me determine how best to help you. My aim is to always find the most effective ways of helping you achieve the results you want in a relatively short amount of time and to give you the right tools so that you can be in control.

Remember that everyone is different and it’s important that you go at your own pace. Clients are often surprised however, how quickly they start to notice the changes they want even when something has held them back for years.

Will you be able to fix me?

Experience shows that the level of client participation and willingness to change is directly proportional to the level of therapeutic success. Looking for others to fix us or a magic wand approach is often part of our issue and sometimes if we find something it only gives us a short term fix. In our work together, I aim to guide you and help you make lasting changes.

Clients who make this commitment are amazed at how empowering it is to let go of their problems and learn how to be in control of their lives.

How much does it cost?

I offer a free 30 minute phone consultation before we first meet to help make sure you have found the right approach for you. Contact me to discuss costs because I offer special packages for certain areas. I also believe in teaching my clients as many empowering ‘tools’ as possible such as relaxation techniques.  As part of our work together you will get your own personalised MP3 download and ongoing email support in between sessions.

Therapy is an investment in you which can last for the rest of your life. Simple changes can be life changes and can become permanent leading to a new you.  This is true whether you need help with overcoming major issues or if you just need someone to help in moving in the right direction to meet your goals.
