Helping you achieve your goals
My role is to guide you to find the answers within yourself, unlock your innate strengths and help you learn the emotional resilience skills you need for the future. The mind is amazing and if you are ready to change, so much is possible.
Hypnotherapy works with different levels of mind to help you resolve unconscious issues, explore underlying emotional needs and reprogramme your mind to work better for you.
Sometimes people confuse hypnotherapy with the stage hypnosis they’ve seen on TV or on holiday. I promise you no clucking chickens or silly tricks!
Are you being emotionally hijacked?
If your issue was just logical or practical then you’d probably have found the answers already. For emotional and unconscious issues, we need to work with the different parts of the inner mind which have been creating and maintaining those issues. When we’re stuck in an issue which either doesn’t make sense to us about why or seems beyond our control, we can think of it as emotional hijacking.
“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.” Henry Ford
Feel in control again…
Did you know that it’s estimated that 95% of what we do each day is driven by the part of the mind which is beyond our conscious awareness. Our basic ‘wiring’ is all about protecting us – away from pain and towards pleasure. Our emotions, automatic responses and habits are like programmes which fire unconsciously in response to our thoughts, our environment and circumstances. Issues are created when this programming is out of date, over-firing or miscalculating what’s needed in the moment.
This is why those problem responses or negative experiences feel outside of our control. By working with the unconscious part of you, together we can reprogramme these unconscious calculations and give your mind new, better and more up to date options.
Reprogramme unconscious patterns and beliefs…
Our decisions, behaviours and reactions are all driven by our inner beliefs and perceptions. These beliefs and ideas start to be formed from our early years and can be knocked out of balance by major changes or emotional events.
Get to the root cause and make positive change…
Hypnotherapy gets to the root cause of the problem to update or rebalance these inner beliefs. Together we will enable you to unlock your inner strengths and build new emotional resilience skills to continue to grow in confidence.

FAQs about hypnotherapy
Will you hypnotise me?
Will I lose control?
I will be guiding you at each step and teaching you ways to work with your own mind. We’ll spend some time exploring how to work together so you can become comfortable. It’s also a collaborative way of working so I won’t be doing anything to you that you are not fully involved with so you can always feel in control.
What if I can't be hypnotised?
Firstly, we take all the pressure off by exploring that trance is something that you do all the time. It’s every day and a natural part of being human. Anytime you are fully absorbed in something you don’t notice the time going or you didn’t notice someone come into the room, that’s a trance state. Anytime you’re so lost in a daydream you feel you’ve been a million miles away, that was a trance. Often people experience trance when driving and get to their destination without consciously being aware of what they’ve been doing.
Secondly, we can say that your problem involves trance too. If you find yourself reacting in a way you don’t want to or automatically, that’s an unconscious response which we can refer to as a problem trance. You might start to recognise how we are using very hypnotic language to ourselves when we repeat negative self-talk over and over or always talk about ourselves in a certain way. We’ll be working to de-hypnotise you out of those old patterns and reactions.
Some people talk about hypnosis as being deep relaxation. It’s not the same thing but it’s much easier and more pleasant to work with the unconscious mind when you are relaxed. We could do all our work with your eyes open and standing up if you really wanted to.
Hypnosis is a powerful tool we can use but think of it as an experience of exploring your imagination and a state of focus rather than something you need to be put into or something that either happens or doesn’t.
Everyone is different so we’ll explore what works best for you and utilise how your mind works.
What if I don't know how to relax?
This is a great reason to come and see me!
Everyone can go into calm states and the body is designed to relax. However, what works for us as ‘relaxation’ is unique to the what we like and what works for us. We’ll be exploring together what works best for you.
