Working with me

Together we can create the changes you want

A complimentary phone consultation

The best way to check my approach is right for you and to find out how I can help you is in a short call. In this 15 to 30 minute chat, we will talk about what you want to address and how my approach works. Not only does this offer you a chance to have a taste of what it’s like to work with me but also you can ask me any questions you have.

You won’t have to go into detail about the issues on this call unless you really want to. We’ll simply discuss what you want to achieve, how hypnotherapy works and how I have helped others like you. Plus we’ll go through how the initial session works so you feel ready.

Following the call, I will send you a link via email for you to see what times are available and book online when you are ready.

Our initial session

A key focus in this first meeting will be on clarifying what you want to achieve and why this is important to you. We’ll also start to explore the underlying patterns we need to target.  I will spend time explaining how the mind works or give you examples of how others have overcome similar issues to you.

We will being working on a mind toolkit together too. I’ll introduce you to tools that suit your goals.

Following sessions, I often share MP3 downloads, online resources and follow up support to help you to continue at home.

How much we achieve in this initial session varies from person to person. However, most clients notice positive differences from this first meeting. By the end of session, we will have a clear idea of how we can work together and can  agree next steps.

Meeting me

I offer a confidential, compassionate and friendly service. We can meet face to face in Reading or Wokingham plus I now offer online coaching sessions which is great if you don’t live locally.

I know it takes courage to see someone especially for personal issues. I will take time to help you feel comfortable with working with me. We will work at your pace and you only have to share what you want to share. Unlike talking therapies, we don’t have to go into the finer detail of past events to make positive changes.

As a key part of my work is embracing your uniqueness, we’ll also explore different ways of working to discover what style bests suits you.

FAQs about working together:

How many sessions will I need?

On average I work with someone for between 3 to  6 sessions for most common issues. Sometimes we might need a slower pace so I offer therapeutic  coaching programmes lasting around 10+ sessions to help you manage costs.

Occasionally for very simple phobias we might be able to work in just one session or an extended session. Most of the time, it’s best to even follow up on this type of work to consolidate changes.

For most clients, I ask for a commitment to at least 3 sessions so that we can work on a full and comprehensive treatment plan. You can choose whether to commit straight away or have the initial session first.

How much does it cost?

I offer different options and packages. Here is a general idea of fees:

Initial sessions lasting up to 90 minutes – £95

Hypnotherapy programme 1 hr sessions – £70

Mindset Coaching sessions up to 2 hours – £150

Deep Dive session – up to 3.5hrs – £340

Hypnobirthing – See page here

Can you guarantee a cure?

Firstly, by the very nature of the work being based on each individual it would be impossible to guarantee set results. It is also considered highly unethical and bad practice to offer such guarantees. My advice is to avoid anyone who does!

Secondly, I don’t like the word ‘cure’ as what you are coming to see me about is not a physical disease and I’m not a medical doctor. As I don’t see people who are in need of psychiatric care either.

Do you work with children or teenagers?

No I only work with over 18s.

I recommend contacting:

Paul Hughes in Reading who also helps people on the autistic spectrum.

Jenny Quinn in Wokingham

How long are sessions?

The first few sessions are up to 90 minutes. If you want to continue after our initial 3 to 4 sessions then we would move into a coaching programme where sessions are from 50 to 70 minutes.

How frequent are sessions?

This really depends on you, what you want to achieve and how you are feeling. I recommend a little gap of around 2 weeks in between at least initially as this allows you time to notice changes and practice any tools we worked on. Then we would aim to extend the gap.

With some conditions I might recommend at first that we have sessions very close together in order to build momentum and really get into the foundation work. For low mood disorders especially, we might need more frequent sessions at first but our aim will always be to lengthen the gap so you feel more in control by yourself.

I've got a physical issue. Can you help?

Of course you must check with a doctor first.  If it’s to do with emotional wellness, psychological symptoms or stress then it’s very likely it’ll be treatable like any other stress related or emotional issue. This includes pain issues but best that we have a chat first.

Please note, I cannot work with someone who’s been diagnosed with a brain disorder or epilepsy.

Can you help with depression?

I often help people lift out of low mood and mild depression especially if it’s anxiety related. This is one of those areas though which often needs more pacing.

If it’s more severe or if someone is suicidal then it’s in their best interest to work with someone who’s specifically trained in this area. I do not work with bi-polar or any pychotic disorder including BPD as it’s outside my remit.

Which conditions can't you help with?

I cannot work with someone who’s been diagnosed with a brain disorder or epilepsy. I also can’t work withsome who has a history of psychosis or other extreme mental health issues.

It’s preferable that you aren’t seeing another type of therapist whilst seeing me. This is to make sure you are getting the right focus and making the most of what you are doing.  In some cases I may require contact with your GP before proceeding with any treatment.

I do not work with alcholism or drug addiction as I believe this deserves specialist help.
